I was reading another blog today called “In Dogged Pursuit” and the post was about ways to take care of your dog to avoid trips to the vet. I thought the article was a good reminder of things that all of us dog owners should remember to do.
- Daily Exercise
- Fresh Water (Remember to clean the bowls as you would for what you drink and eat out of)
- Feed the best food you can afford
- Give the dog attention everyday; brush, look at nails, observe bumps & skin irritations ( Bostons can be particularly sensitive to grass allergies)
- Additionally I would add while giving attention pay particular attention to any fleas. Ask your vet about flea and tick prevention and heart worm preventative.
- Observe your dog’s eating patterns for changes
- Weekly check leashes, collars, fences, torn bedding and any other potential hazard.
